How We Got the Way We Are Today

LCG, Dec. 21, 2000--Yep. This is EnergyOnline Daily News. We hadn't planned to spring the new look on you yesterday without warning, but the old system broke down and we had no choice.

For the past couple of months, Webmaster Sidart Deb has been building the new site with which you are now afflicted. The old site, with its buttons and hopelessly long URLs for the individual pages, was as grey as a gloomy day and difficult to put together each day.

It had been "state of the art" when we went on line a little more than five years ago, and it had stayed at that particular state through thick and thin. Yesterday, things got real thin.

The @#$%&* thing wouldn't work at all, despite the best efforts of Webmeister Deb and his elves. The only thing to do was switch over to the new site now, instead of January 2.

There are some new features you might like. The one we like is a Forum, where readers may exchange ideas and brickbats about the energy business and the government agencies that fiddle with it. We haven't figured out how to work it yet, but we are sure you will.

If you have any problems with the new Website, let Mr. Deb hear about them. There must be a feedback button somewhere on the site.
