LCG, March 27, 2025--Avangrid, Inc., a member of the Iberdrola Group, today announced that its True North Solar project, located in Falls County, Texas, has achieved commercial operation. The True North Solar project will deliver electricity into ERCOT and support Meta's operations, including Meta's upcoming data center in neighboring Temple, its second data center in Texas.

LCG, March 26, 2025--Qcells USA Corp. (Qcells), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hanwha Qcells, and Nofar USA (Nofar), a wholly owned subsidiary of Nofar Energy, recently announced a signed agreement to cooperate on the development and construction of two energy storage projects in Texas. The projects have a combined capacity of 350 MW with a 2-hour duration (700 MWh).

Nuclear Fusion Power Plant Planned for Japan
LCG, Dec. 26, 2000The Japanese Atomic Energy Commission said this morning that an experimental nuclear fusion power plant developed jointly with western European countries and Russia would be built in Japan, according to Kyodo News Service.Nuclear power plants such as those in the United States operate on the principle of atomic fission, in which atoms of uranium are split when bombarded with neutrons. The chain reaction creates heat which, in turn, is used to make steam to spin turbines which drive electric generators.Nuclear fusion is, on the other hand, the combining of atoms and reactions are called thermonuclear because they take place in the presence of great heat. Scientists believe that the sun creates energy by fusing light elements such as hydrogen with heavier ones, releasing energy and visible light.Japan is to become the land of the rising sun.The installation of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor is likely to draw protests in Japan, although Kyodo noted that three communities, Tomakomai in Hokkaido, Rokkasho in Aomori Prefecture and Naka in Ibaraki Prefecture have already declared themselves willing to host the project.
