NextEra Energy and Google Collaborate on Accelerating Nuclear Power Deployment

LCG, October 28, 2025--NextEra Energy and Google yesterday announced two agreements that will help meet growing electricity demand from artificial intelligence (AI) with clean, reliable, 24/7 nuclear power and strengthen the nation's nuclear leadership. First, Google signed a new, 25-year agreement for power generated at the Duane Arnold Energy Center, Iowa's only nuclear power facility. AEP Buys Enron's Houston Pipe Line

LCG, June 4, 2001--American Electric Power Co. Inc. said Friday it has completed the purchase of Enron Corp.'s Houston Pipe Line Co. intrastate natural gas pipeline subsidiary for $726.6 million. The deal includes pipelines in Texas, storage facilities and inventories of natural gas.

Houston Pipe Lines operates more than 4,400 miles of pipeline within Texas including lines linking offshore gas producing areas in the Gulf of Mexico with processing facilities and interstate pipeline in the state. The purchase adds about 2.4 billion cubic feet per day of capacity to AEP's smaller existing system.

The purchase also includes a 30-year pre-paid lease to operate the Bammel Storage Facility, which boasts about 118 billion cubic feet of capacity.

AEP said the Houston pipeline system will be operated separately from its existing facilities, but the two will be centrally controlled. The combined systems will have a daily gas capacity of around 3.2 billion cubic feet and include more than 6,400 miles of natural gas pipeline in Louisiana and Texas.
