LCG, June 18, 2025--The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced late today a new pilot program to expedite the testing of advanced nuclear reactor designs under DOE authority outside of the national laboratories. The new pilot program is intended to unlock private funding and provide a fast track to commercial licensing.

LCG, June 17, 2025--X-energy Reactor Company, LLC (X-energy) announced yesterday that it has received key updates from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regarding the construction permit application for the initial deployment of the Xe-100 advanced reactor at a Texas Gulf Coast site. The NRC published an 18-month review timeline for the project, located in Seadrift, Texas, and will concurrently proceed with its environmental assessment. The NRC cited the completeness and quality of the application, as well as the effectiveness of pre-application engagements for the 18-month timeline.

EdF in 715 Megawatt Power Plant for Vietnam
LCG, Sept. 17, 2001--A consortium led by Electricit de France was set to received a license from the government of Vietnam to build a 715 megawatt, $480 million gas-fueled power plant at the southern coast city of Phu My, Deutsche Presse-Agentur reported this morning.The Vietnamese Ministry of Industry confirmed the licensing, which was to include the signing of a contract with the ministry, a power purchase agreement with state monopoly Electricity of Vietnam and a gas supply agreement with PetroVietnam.According to Deutsche Presse-Agentur, the 715 megawatt Phu My 2-2 is to be part of the 3,600 megawatt Phu My Power complex in southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province. EdF has already contracted with General Electric Co. of the U.S. to supply turbines for the plant.Fuel for the plant will be piped onshore from Nam Con Son sea basin project off the coast. Construction of a $565 million, 236-mile underwater pipeline from Nam Con Son basin to Phu My station began in May. When completed in 2004, the entire Phu My complex will generate enough power to meet roughly 40 per cent of Vietnam's electricity needs, Electricity of Vietnam has said.
