X-energy Commences First Irradiation Tests of Advanced TRISO-X Nuclear Fuel at Idaho National Laboratory

LCG, November 6, 2025--X-energy Reactor Company, LLC, (X-energy) and the U.S. Office of Nuclear Energy today announced the start of confirmatory irradiation testing at Idaho National Laboratory (INL) to qualify X-energy’s proprietary TRISO-X fuel pebbles for commercial use in the Xe-100 Small Modular Reactor (SMR). (TRISO stands for TRi-structural ISOtropic). This is the first time that TRISO-X fuel pebbles will undergo irradiation testing in a U.S. lab, which is a critical step in meeting requirements set forth by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for the commercial deployment of advanced reactors that will use the fuel.

NextEra Energy and Google Collaborate on Accelerating Nuclear Power Deployment

LCG, October 28, 2025--NextEra Energy and Google yesterday announced two agreements that will help meet growing electricity demand from artificial intelligence (AI) with clean, reliable, 24/7 nuclear power and strengthen the nation's nuclear leadership. First, Google signed a new, 25-year agreement for power generated at the Duane Arnold Energy Center, Iowa's only nuclear power facility. The 601-MW boiling water reactor unit was shut down in 2020 and is expected to commence operations by the first quarter of 2029, pending regulatory approvals to restart the plant.

Charles B. Clark Jr. has been named a senior vice president of Calpine Corp..He will continue to serve as corporate controller and chief accounting officer.

Gerald R. Forsythe has resigned from the board of directors of Black Hills Corp., the parent holding company for Black Hills Power Co., an electric utility serving western South Dakota, northeastern Wyoming and southeastern Montana. No replacement has been named.

Larry Geske, president and chief executive of Rocky Mountain natural gas and propane company Energy West Inc. will retire, effective immediastely, to focus on personal and community projects. He will be replace by Edward Bernica, chief operating officer of the firm.

Edward D. Gottlob has been named a vice president of the Houston Pipe Line Co. subsidiary of American Electric Power Co. Inc. He previously served as director of gas marketing and trading for HPL.

Dwayne L. Hart has been named senior vice president for strategic acquisitions anddivestitures by the AEP Energy Services unit of American Electric Power Co. Inc.He joined AEP Energy Services in June of last year as vice president for business development and strategy.

William P. Herdegen III has been named vice president for distribution operations by Kansas City Power & Light Co. and will be responsible for distribution engineering,construction, maintenance and operations at KCP&L Delivery. He joins the company from Laramore, Douglass and Popham, a consulting firm providing engineering services to the electric utility industry, where he was chief operating officer.

Vincent J. Lewis has resigned from the board of directors of natural gas distributor Atmos Energy Corp. No replacement has been named.

Steven J. Malcolm has been named president and chief operating officer of The Williams Cos., replacing Keith E. Bailey who will remain chairman and chief executive. Malcolm, who most recently president and chief executive of Williams Energy Services and a Williams executive vice president was also named to the Williams board.

Morgan O'Brien has been named president and chief executive of utility holding company DQE Inc., replacing David Marshall, who is retiring after 17 years with the company. O'Brien, who joined Duquesne Lioght Co. in 1991 and most recently was chief operating officer, will also join the DQE board.

George Rooney has been named senior vice president for marketing be the AEPEnergy Services unit of American Electric Power Co. Inc. He joined the company in 1997 as vice president for business development.

DEATHS

James T. Dolan Jr., former chairman, president and chief executive of New Jersey Resources Corp., died on September 14. He joined New Jersey Natural Gas Co. in 1962 as personnel director, became president and chief executive in 1978, and was instrumental in the formation of NJNG's holding company, New Jersey Resources Corp., becoming its first president and chief executive in 1982 and chairman in 1987. He is survived by his wife, Hilda, and his daughter, Marian.
