LCG, January 21, 2026--Sage Geosystems, the company pioneering Pressure Geothermal, today announced that it closed over $97 million in Series B funding to advance its geothermal power generation and energy storage solutions, including its first commercial next-generation geothermal power generation facility. New Jersey Okays First Energy Takeover of GPU
LCG, Sept. 27, 2001--The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities yesterday approved First Energy Corp's. proposed $4.5 billion acquisition of GPU Inc., a GPU official said.Ned Raynolds, a spokesman for GPU, said the New Jersey regulators voted 2-1 in favor of the merger, which will create an electric distribution and transmission utility stretching from Toledo, Ohio to the Jersey shore.Yesterday's vote was taken on a settlement the two companies reached last month with New Jersey officials and electricity customers dealing with financial technical matters surrounding the merger.The merger is expected to result in about 1,250 job cuts, mostly in GPU's Pennsylvania service territory. About 300 jobs in New Jersey may ultimately be lost.
