Google Announces Gas-fired Broadwing Energy Project with CCS

LCG, October 23, 2025--Google announced today a first-of-its kind agreement to support a natural gas-fired power plant with carbon capture and storage (CCS). The 400-MW Broadwing Energy power project, located in Decatur, Illinois, will capture and permanently store its carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. By agreeing to buy most of the power it generates, Google is helping get this new, baseload power source built and connected to the regional grid that supports our data centers.

EPA Issues Class VI Well Permits to ExxonMobil for Carbon Capture and Storage Project in Texas

LCG, October 21, 2025--The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) today issued three final Underground Injection Control (UIC) Class VI permits to ExxonMobil for their Rose Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Project located in Jefferson County, Texas. Under the Safe Drinking Water Act, these permits allow ExxonMobil to convert three existing test wells permitted by the state to carbon dioxide (CO2) storage injection wells for long-term storage.

Terry Bassham has been named chief financial officer of El Paso Electric Co., replacing Gary Hedrick, who was named chief executive last week. Bassham most recently was executive vice president and general counsel. He will continue to serve as interim general counsel.

Raymond M. Bowen Jr. has been elected executive vice president for finance and treasurer of Enron Corp. He had been chief operating officer of Enron Industrial Markets and from 1998 to 1999, was treasurer of Enron Capital & Trade Resources.

John Ellegood a product of the U.S. Nuclear Navy, has been assigned by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission as the agency's resident inspector at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant in Ohio. He replaces Renee Vogt-Lowell who had been the Resident Inspector at Perry since August 1999.

Frank Frankowski has been appointed chief financial officer and vice president for finance by Peco Energy Co.. He most recently was controller for Peco.

Ira D. Hall, former treasurer of Texaco Inc., has been elected to the board of directors of The Williams Cos., bringing the total number of Williams board members to 15.

Clyde T. Turner, chief executive officer of the Mandalay Resorts Group from 1995 to 1998, has been elected to fill a vacant position on the board of Sierra Pacific Resources Corp. parent company for two Nevada utilities. His term begins immediately and he will stand for re-election by the shareholders at the company's annual meeting next spring.

Kathleen M. Walters has been named vice president for information technology by Exelon Energy Delivery, the parent company for Peco Energy Co. She moves up from the same position with Peco.

Britton White Jr. will retire as executive vice president and general counsel of El Paso Corp. effective December 31, 2001. He will be replaced by Peggy A. Heeg, who has served as senior vice president and deputy general counsel responsible for managing legal activities for many of ElPaso's business units.
