'Analysts' Take Heat for Enron Buy Recommendations
LCG, Dec. 7, 2001--The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, which is already investigating the financial reporting of Enron Corp., now wants to take a look at securities analysts who kept recommending Enron's stock as a "buy" even as the company nosedived into bankruptcy.Laura Unger, an SEC commissioner, said yesterday in an interview on CNBC television "What concerns me more is hearing that analysts still continued the strong buy recommendation as recently as in the last couple of weeks when it was at 90 cents."Unger also took aim at Enron's auditors, the accounting firm of Arthur Andersen.
