LCG, July 2, 2025--Alliant Energy today announced plans to add up to 1,000 MW of wind energy generating capacity in Iowa to meet demand and ensure reliable, affordable energy for its customers. The plans are included in a filing with the Iowa Utilities Commission (IUC), and the company anticipates a decision from the IUC in the first quarter of 2026.

Midwest ISO Opens for Business Saturday
LCG, Dec. 21, 2001--The Midwest Independent System Operator has announced that recent activities have placed it on schedule to begin commercial operations this coming Saturday."Having the key systems in place, the key people in Indianapolis and in St. Paul, and being able to evaluate transmission service requests provides the foundation for a seamless transition to commercial operations," said William C. Phillips, ISO vice president for operations.Among the ISO's recent activities was the purchase last month from the Mid-Continent Area Power Pool of its MAPP Center control facility in St. Paul, Minn., which the Midwest ISO is now operating. The ISO has also begun its full-time (24 x 7, to employ a vogue term) security coordination and has launched its Open-Access Same-Time Information System (OASIS) site, the Internet-based transmission service reservation system.The 24 x 7 security coordination began last week at the ISO's facility in central Indiana, where security coordinators are monitoring the system for reliability in parallel with security coordinators from adjacent regions.The ISO's registered customers can submit web-based requests for transmission service using the its OASIS site. Currently, requests for service are being made in parallel with existing applicable transmission owners' OASIS sites in order to ensure a smooth cutover to the ISO's commercial operations.The Midwest ISO will begin operations Saturday with functional control over 73,000 miles of transmission lines carrying up to 81,000 megawatts of power.
