Aussie Firm Commissions 2 U.S. Landfill Gas Plants

LCG, Dec. 14, 2001--Energy Developments Ltd. of Melbourne, Australia said this morning it has commissioned two landfill gas-fueled power projects in the United States with a combined capacity of 23 megawatts.

The Carbon Limestone plant, situated in Lowellville, Ohio, has a 14.9 megawatt capacity, and the Lorain plant, in Oberlin, Ohio, has an output of 8.1 megawatts. Putting the two plants online brings Energy Developments' total U.S. capacity to 30 megawatts, the company said, adding that worldwide it has a combined generating capacity of about 360 megawatts.

Chairman Richard Denton said at the company's annual general meeting in November that the United States will remain a key focus of its global landfill gas growth strategy.
