LCG, July 2, 2025--Alliant Energy today announced plans to add up to 1,000 MW of wind energy generating capacity in Iowa to meet demand and ensure reliable, affordable energy for its customers. The plans are included in a filing with the Iowa Utilities Commission (IUC), and the company anticipates a decision from the IUC in the first quarter of 2026.

SaskPower Prepares for Wind Power Project
LCG, March 7, 2002A wind power project capable of generating 5.9 megawatts will be installed near Gull Lake, Saskatchewan, starting this summer, following SaskPower's selection of Vestas Canadian Wind Technology as turbine vendor and installer.The installation will consist of nine turbines, and is worth C$10.8 million ($6.8 million US). In addition to the Vestas project, a joint venture of Suncor and Enbridge of Alberta, SunBridge, will have its own 17-turbine installation operating near Gull Lake, by August. That installation will have a maximum output of 11 megawatts.The SaskPower project is being supported by the government's Crown Investments Corp., and is expected to operate on a cost-recovery basis over ten years. Its output will be priced at C$35 ($22 US) per megawatt-hour. The University of Regina has committed to purchases of 570 megawatt-hours of the project's output, for C$20,000 ($12,640 US).
