Florida Power & Light Will Cut Rates

LCG, March 14, 2002-The Florida Power & Light Company came to an agreement with Florida officials and electricity consumers, allowing for a 7 percent decrease in electricity rates over the next four years.

A subsidiary of the FLP Group Inc., the Florida company announced that the rate cut will reduce base charges by $250 million and fuel charges by $200 million per year. The plan requires the company to turn over revenues that exceed a specified amount, $450 million for 2002, to Florida customers.

The decision has yet to be approved by the Florida Public Service Commission.
