LCG, April 24, 2025--Exxon Mobil Corporation (ExxonMobil) announced yesterday an agreement with Calpine Corporation (Calpine) to transport and permanently store up to 2 million metric tons per annum (MTA) of CO2 from Calpine’s Baytown Energy Center, a natural gas-fired facility located near Houston, Texas. This is part of Calpine’s Baytown Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Project that is designed to add CCS for the facility’s CO2 emissions. The Calpine facility could then provide a 24/7 supply of low-carbon electricity to the Texas grid plus steam to nearby industrial facilities.

LCG, April 21, 2025--NovaSource Power Services ("NovaSource") recently announced that it has partnered with Doral Renewables and has been selected as the Operations and Maintenance ("O&M") and Generator Operator ("GO") for the Mammoth Solar Project, one of the largest agrivoltaics facilities in the United States.

Grid Operators in Northeast Work Together
LCG, March 15, 2002-The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) and Pennsylvania- New Jersey- Maryland Interconnection LLC (PJM) agreed to combine efforts in facilitating power trade in the region. On Wednesday the northeast operators announced their intent to improve market efficiency by coordinating regulations and resources. They plan to homogenize rules as well as allow for more leeway in decisions, such as which plants will supply a region's regular or emergency needs . Quarterly Reports would be given to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and state public utility commissions.If the agreement falls through then FERC may mediate further discussion.As the nation's first regional transmission organization (RTO), PJM Interconnection controls the largest wholesale power market in the world. NYISO and PJM's combined markets affect supply about 41 million people with electricity in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, Washington D.C, and New York.
