Michigan Governor Supports Reopening Palisades Nuclear Facility

LCG, September 16, 2022--The Governor of Michigan last week sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in support of Holtec International’s application for a federal grant under the Civil Nuclear Credit (CNC) program to save the Palisades Nuclear Facility in Southwest Michigan. The federal grant could result in restarting the baseload, carbon-free, nuclear power plant.

Calpine Prepares Oklahoma Plant for July

LCG, Apr 26, 2002--A gas-fired power plant in northeastern Oklahoma is nearing the completion of its first stage of construction, and according to merchant developer Calpine Corp., should start producing power in July.

The Oneta Energy Center in Wagoner County, near Coweta, will produce 570 megawatts this year, and by February of 2003, is expected to have another 570 megawatts online. Calpine will own and operate the plant, and output will be sold to the wholesale market.

Currently, there are approximately 20 gas-fired independent power plants on the ground or in development in Oklahoma.
