Wisconsin Plant Planned at Lake Michigan Site
LCG, May 2, 2002--We Power LLC, a subsidiary of Wisconsin Energy Corp., has contracted with Washington Group International for the construction of a 500-megawatt, combined-cycle power plant at an existing site on Lake Michigan.Engineering work will commence while applications are made with Public Service Commission of Wisconsin. The configuration of the plant, at Port Washington, will include two combustion turbines, two heat recovery steam generators, and a steam turbine. There is an existing Port Washington power plant at the site, and We Power has plans to build a second combined-cycle plant there at at an unspecified date.We Power was started one year ago as the unregulated power development unit of Wisconsin Energy, and presently has an overall goal of building 2,800 megawatts of new generation capacity throughout Wisconsin within the decade.
