LCG, December 30, 2025--Duke Energy announced today its submission of an early site permit (ESP) application to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). The site is near the Belews Creek Steam Station in Stokes County, North Carolina. The submittal follows two years of work at the site, and the announcement states that the submittal is part of Duke Energy's strategic, on-going commitment to evaluate new nuclear generation options to reliably meet the growing electricity needs of its customers while reducing costs and risks.

Bayou Cove Plant To Start for Summer Peaking Season
LCG, June 20, 2002--A new, gas-fired peaking plant near Jennings, Louisiana is expected to begin producing power in July.The Bayou Cove plant, consisting of four combustion turbines, will have half of its planned 320-MW capacity online this summer. The remaining portion will follow at an as-yet unspecified date. NRG Energy Inc., the plant owner, selected The Shaw Group for construction. Bayou Cove will not use groundwater for cooling. Instead, water will be trucked to the 117-acre greenfield site.
