EPA Proposes Rule Changes to Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) Requirements to Restore American Energy Dominance

LCG, April 10, 2026--The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced yesterday a rule proposing several revisions to the federal regulations governing the disposal of coal combustion residuals (CCR) and the beneficial use of CCR. California ISO Goes Ahead with $473 Million Upgrade

LCG, June 26, 2002--The California Independent System Operator has taken a step to remedy a transmission bottleneck on "Path 15."

The ISO approved $437 million to expand Path 15, which connects Northern and Southern California.

Two pre-existing 500 kilovolt lines will be joined by a third in the Central Valley, and major substations will be improved to add 1,500 MW in transmission. The project should be completed in 2004.

The ISO says that the upgrade will yield $100 million a year in savings and up to $300 million in dry years.

Pacific Gas and Electric utility, Trans-Elect Inc., and the Western Area Power Administration will pay for the project, although Trans-Elect will pay the most and therefore receive the larger part of the transmission rights.

The project has yet to be approved by the California Public Utilities Commission.
