LCG, December 30, 2025--Duke Energy announced today its submission of an early site permit (ESP) application to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). The site is near the Belews Creek Steam Station in Stokes County, North Carolina. The submittal follows two years of work at the site, and the announcement states that the submittal is part of Duke Energy's strategic, on-going commitment to evaluate new nuclear generation options to reliably meet the growing electricity needs of its customers while reducing costs and risks.

Reliant Will Restructure, Change Name
LCG, July 8, 2002--The trading unit of Reliant Energy Inc., Reliant Resources, will become a separate entity, while the parent company will become CenterPoint Energy."The companies have different markets, different strategies and different aspirations," said Steve Letbetter, the chairman and chief executive of Reliant Energy. The move represents an attempt to allow the separate businesses better access to capital. Discussions have been ongoing over banks' extending existing credit lines.The trading unit, Reliant Resources, last week restated $7.8 billion in revenue for the years 1999 through 2001, to offset the inflating effect of round-trip trades, reciprocal trades with other companies in which little or no profits are realized.
