LCG, December 30, 2025--Duke Energy announced today its submission of an early site permit (ESP) application to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). The site is near the Belews Creek Steam Station in Stokes County, North Carolina. The submittal follows two years of work at the site, and the announcement states that the submittal is part of Duke Energy's strategic, on-going commitment to evaluate new nuclear generation options to reliably meet the growing electricity needs of its customers while reducing costs and risks.

Northeast, N.Y. and Ontario Could Smooth Inter-regional Power Flow
LCG, July 18, 2002--A committee will be created to discuss possible ways in which rules and market structure can bring together the wholesale power markets of the New England, New York and Ontario independent system operators, the ISO's said Wednesday.The committee will be charged with developing a single or separate day-ahead markets that can promote the buying of power among ISO-New England), NYISO, and Independent Electricity Market Operator of Ontario (IMO). Issues to be discussed also include congestion management, maintenance planning for power generation and transmission lines, and inter-regional utilization of supply reserves.A plan is expected from the committee by next May. The New York and New England ISO's have begun discussions on forming a joint regional transmission organization (RTO), and anticipate filing their plan in August.
