LCG, October 16, 2026--The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) announced on Thursday its new proposal to revise and accelerate its review of air quality effects for proposed natural gas projects under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The draft policy statement highlights revisions designed to (i) avoid unnecessary delays and duplicative analysis and (ii) deliver greater regulatory certainty and a streamlined path forward for project applicants.

LCG, October 14, 2026--American Electric Power (AEP) today announced plans for a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Google, under which AEP will invest approximately $4 billion to advance a new 702-MW fuel cell generation project located near Cheyenne, Wyoming. Google will acquire power from Cheyenne Fuel Cell, LLC, which is approximately 92 percent owned and controlled by AEP and 8 percent owned by funds advised by Basalt Infrastructure Partners, LLP. AEP and its partners plan to start construction this year and to be fully operational by the end of 2028.

Judge Rules Cheney Has 30 Days to Submit Energy Documents
LCG, August 5, 2002-On Friday, a Federal Judge ruled that documents concerning a White House energy task force must be released within 30 days.U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan found that the documents, related to Vice President Dick Cheney's National Energy Policy Development Group, were not protected by the Administrative Procedures Act or executive privilege.According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Judge Sullivan said of the White House's opposition, "It is not appropriate to say, 'executive privilege;' it is not appropriate to say, 'This request is unconstitutional'"She added, "Your position seems to be, 'The government wins because the government says this is what happened, and no one can ask what happened.'"The suits were filed by Judicial Watch, a conservative Washington D.C. watchdog group, and the Sierra Club, with the intent to find names and origins of those involved with the National Energy Policy Development Group.The Bush Administration provided information regarding the task force earlier this year but refused to release the names of businesses and agencies involved in the Group.
