LCG, August 27, 2025--Wärtsilä Energy announced yesterday an agreement with East Kentucky Power Cooperative (EKPC) to supply the engineering and equipment for a 217-MW power plant to be constructed in Liberty, Kentucky. The Wärtsilä equipment is scheduled for delivery in mid-2027, and the plant is expected to be commissioned in early 2028.

The MOU establishes a shared commitment to support advanced nuclear technologies to build Utah’s energy future and to prioritize reliability, economic growth and energy abundance.

Russian Gas Unable to Get Customers to Pay
LCG, August 7, 2002-OAO Gazprom says it intends to reassess its development program in response to mounting unpaid gas bills.The Russian gas giant, which reports itself as the largest gas company in the world, is due $1.4 billion or 45 billion rubles in unpaid gas bills.Gazprom says it will concentrate on reliability in gas delivery but has requested that the Russian government increase gas rates, which are currently insufficient to cover Gazprom's production costs.The company's lack of funds have prevented maintenance of pipelines and various winter preparations.
