LCG, April 24, 2025--Exxon Mobil Corporation (ExxonMobil) announced yesterday an agreement with Calpine Corporation (Calpine) to transport and permanently store up to 2 million metric tons per annum (MTA) of CO2 from Calpine’s Baytown Energy Center, a natural gas-fired facility located near Houston, Texas. This is part of Calpine’s Baytown Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Project that is designed to add CCS for the facility’s CO2 emissions. The Calpine facility could then provide a 24/7 supply of low-carbon electricity to the Texas grid plus steam to nearby industrial facilities.

LCG, April 21, 2025--NovaSource Power Services ("NovaSource") recently announced that it has partnered with Doral Renewables and has been selected as the Operations and Maintenance ("O&M") and Generator Operator ("GO") for the Mammoth Solar Project, one of the largest agrivoltaics facilities in the United States.

Five Wind Farms Planned in New York State
LCG, Aug. 22, 2002--A group of five wind farms will be built in western New York state, in Erie, Chautauqua, Lewis, Steuben, and Yates counties.The wind farm in Erie County, which will be sited on land leased from landowners, will have a capacity of 50 megawatts. "It's a new crop which many farmers are glad to have on their land," said Patrick Doyle, director of project development for Zilkha. The project cost is estimated at $50 million for 34 planned turbine towers. Zilkha also operates wind farms in California, Pennsylvania and Iowa.Another project will be built by York WindPower. This project will have a capacity of 51 megawatts, and be sited in Chautauqua County.The five projects, which together would be able to produce up to 315 megawatts at their maximum output, are expected to be built within the next year. $17 million in grants are being provided through the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, and will bring the state closer to its goal of obtaining 10 percent of its generation from renewable sources.Other wind farms in upstate New York that are already running can be found in Madison County, and have a capacity of 41 megawatts.
