EIA Estimates Record U.S. Electric Generating Capacity Additions in 2026, with Solar in the Lead

LCG, February 20, 2026--The EIA today issued an "in-brief analysis" that estimates U.S. power plant developers and operators plan to complete a record installation of 86 GW of new, utility-scale electric generating capacity that is connected to the U.S. power grid in 2026. Last year, 53 GW of new capacity was added to the grid, which was the largest capacity installation in a single year since 2002. Bankrupt Enron to Hold Asset Sale to Fund Settlements

LCG, August 28, 2002-Enron Corporation will sell several significant assets in order to pay for settlements.

Enron announced that Oregon utility Portland General Electric and Transwestern Pipeline Company will be auctioned, along with a 50 percent stake in the Citrus Corporation, a join venture with El Paso Corporation, as will some nine other holdings.

Final bids are expected in November in order to finalize decisions by the end of the year. Decisions will be subject to bankruptcy court approval.

Experts point to the pipeline as the most likely asset to be sold at a fair price because of its reliable source of revenue.

Other financially desperate companies, such as Dynegy Corp., have also made asset sales plans as well.
