Calpine Adjusts Earnings Statements for Last Three Years

LCG, March 4, 2003San Jose-based Calpine Corporation restated its earnings results for 2000, 2001, and 2002 after changing accountants.

2000 earnings were lowered from $373 million to $369 million. 2001 earnings were lowered from $648 million to $623 million, and 2002 earnings were reduced from $142 million to $119 million.

Calpine does not see any major impact from the changes but has also asked the Securities and Exchange Commission to review two power contracts beginning in 2000 to determine if proper accounting was used.

Last March Calpine switched auditors, dismissing Arthur Andersen LLP for Deloitte & Touche LLP.
