Vendor for 100-MW Minnesota Wind Farm Selected
LCG, Aug. 6, 2003--Talks are to begin between the Great River Energy cooperative organization and TRIMONT WIND, a group of local investors in a wind development project who live in the area of Minnesota where 100 megawatts of new capacity are planned. The proposal by TRIMONT WIND was selected over those by other bidders as the one offering the lowest cost and appropriate connections to transmission. Access to delivery points is more direct than it would otherwise be for a project outside the service territory of Great River member cooperatives. The TRIMONT Area Wind Farm, LLC, would be able to produce power by 2005, and would be sited in Martin and Jackson counties. TRIMONT WIND would own and operate the wind farm, which is close to the Lakefield Junction Station power plant. The investors who make up TRIMONT are customers of South Central Electric Association, itself a member cooperative of Great River Energy.
