Presque Isle Unit Back in Operation

LCG, June 13, 2003--Another generating unit at the Presque Isle power plant, in Wisconsin's Upper Pensinsula, is again online, after having been flooded in May after a dam failure on the Dead River of Michigan.

Unit 7 is operating at almost 50% of its capacity, according to Chris Iglar, a spokesman for Wisconsin Energy Corp.'s utility We Energies. The potential output for the unit, one of nine at the plant, is 80 megawatts.

Overall, a total of four coal-fired units are operational, generating about 250 megawatts.
