600-MW CC Starts Operation in Wisconsin

LCG, June 10, 2004--A dual fuel combined-cycle plant built by Calpine Corp. in Beloit, Wisc., began operating on June 1 last week, with a capacity of 600 megawatts.

Most of the capacity of the Riverside Energy Center is under contract to Alliant Energy and Madison Gas & Electric Company, in amounts of 453 and 75 megawatts, respectively. Calpine owns two other power plants that serve Wisconsin customers, with its 450-megawatt Zion Energy Center and 460-megawatt Rockgen Energy Center. Another facility, the Fox Energy Center, is under construction in the town of Kaukauna.
