LCG, May 30, 2025--NuScale Power Corporation (NuScale), a leading provider of advanced small modular reactor (SMR) nuclear technology, yesterday announced that it has received design approval from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for its uprated 77 MW power modules. NuScale states that it remains the only SMR technology company with design approval from the NRC, and the company remains on track for deployment by 2030, with 50- and 77-MW SMR options.

LCG, May 29, 2025--The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) released an analysis yesterday showing that the California Independent System Operator (CAISO), the grid operator for most of the state, is increasing its curtailment of the rapidly growing solar- and wind-powered generation facilities in order to balance electricity supply and demand, which is necessary to maintain a stable electric system.

NSTAR Transmission Upgrade Receives Tentative Approval
LCG, December 28, 2004--The Massachusetts Energy Facilities Siting Board tentatively approved a proposal by NSTAR to construct a new, 345-kV electric transmission line designed to improve system reliability and capacity between generation facilities located in southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and loads in northeastern Massachusetts and the Greater Boston area.The new, 18-mile, underground transmission line will extend from Stoughton to Boston and is estimated to cost $217 million. The load area is now served by a single 345-kV line from the north, plus several low voltage lines.The full Massachusetts Energy Facilities Siting Board will vote on the draft decision January 13. Project construction is planned to commence in early 2005, with the line in service by summer of 2006.
