LCG, June 11, 2025--The AES Corporation (AES) announced today that it has completed construction of the 1,000 MW Bellefield 1 project, which is under a 15-year contract with Amazon. Bellefield is a two-phase project, with each phase including 500 MW of solar plus 500 MW of a four-hour, battery energy storage system (BESS). ATC Turns to Court for Assistance with Arrowhead-Weston Project

LCG, February 11, 2005--The American Transmission Co. (ATC) yesterday filed with Douglas County, Wisconsin a notice of claim that summarizes ATC's planned legal actions to enable ATC to use county land for the Arrowhead-Weston Transmission Project. ATC plans to file in the Douglas County Circuit Court and request the court to intervene and reverse the county board's decision to not grant an easement across 1.5 miles of county-owned land and thereby cause ATC to move the project onto private land.

ATC's claim calls for the county board's 15-11 vote last week to be reversed and the county to grant access for survey work - plus grant the necessary project easements. If the county disallows the claim, ATC will then ask the circuit court to order the county to allow ATC access to county-owned land.

The Arrowhead-Weston transmission project is a major project that has overcome a number of hurdles to date. The 345-kV transmission line will extend roughly 220 miles between Hermantown and Wausau and is estimated to cost $420 million. The Wisconsin Public Service Commission approved construction of the project in December 2003. Electric utilities, including Wisconsin Public Service Corp. and Minnesota Power, say the project is needed to improve grid reliability. ATC is the lead company developing the project.

Last month, the Dane County Circuit Court affirmed the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin's final order approving the Arrowhead-Weston Transmission Project. ATC is currently working to obtain easements to use county-owned land in Washburn County, where the project crosses about 9.5 miles of county-owned land.

Project construction is nearly complete in Minnesota and is expected to begin in Clark and Marathon counties this spring. The project is scheduled to be completed by 2008.
