Nova Scotia Power to Purchase Electricity from Amherst Wind Project

LCG, August 19, 2005--Nova Scotia Power (NSPI) announced that it has executed a 15-year agreement to purchase power from the Amherst Wind Energy Project, located on the Tantramar Marsh along the border between Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. The project is scheduled to commence operations in 2007.

The 31-MW project, with an estimated cost of $60 million, is a joint venture between Wind Dynamics Inc. of New Brunswick and EHN Windpower Canada, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Spanish conglomerate Acciona.

Over the past 16 months, NSPI has awarded contracts with independent power producers for 100 MW of wind power.
