Operations Commence at the Wild Horse Wind Project in Washington
LCG, January 5, 2007--Puget Sound Energy (PSE), the wholly owned utility subsidiary of Puget Energy, announced yesterday that its 229-MW Wild Horse Wind Project commenced commercial operations in late December.
The Wild Horse Wind Project is located east of Ellensburg in Kittitas County, Washington. The wind farm includes 127 turbine generators, which are 1.8-MW machines manufactured by Vestas. Project construction began in October 2005.
PSE is also pursuing the development of 500-kV, solar-powered generating facility at the Wild Horse site. PSE issued a request for proposals (RFP) for the design and development of the solar project in November 2006, with a target of completing the solar project by late 2007.
PSE's stated goal is to meet up to 10 percent of its customers' total electricity need with cost-effective, renewable resources by 2013.
