LCG, June 23, 2025--The Governor of New York today directed the New York Power Authority (NYPA) to develop and construct an advanced nuclear power plant in upstate New York to deliver zero-emission power that supports a reliable and affordable electric grid. NYPA will lead the effort to develop at least one new nuclear energy facility with a combined capacity of at least one gigawatt (GW) of electricity, either alone or in partnership with private entities. The directive builds on the Governor’s 2025 State of the State to develop nuclear energy plans in New York.

FPL Energy Moves Forward with North Dakota Wind Farm
LCG, March 30, 2007-- Minnkota Power Cooperative, Inc., and Otter Tail Power Company yesterday announced that they had executed an agreement with FPL Energy to develop the Langdon Wind Project in Cavalier County, North Dakota. The agreement is a result of requests for proposals (RFPs) issued by Minnkota and Otter Tail in 2006.
FPL Energy will construct and operate the Langdon Wind Project, which will have a total capacity of 159 MW. The wind farm will include 106 GE turbines, each with a capacity of 1.5 MW.
The 25-year agreements call for Minnkota to purchase 99 MW of generation and Otter Tail to purchase 19.5 MW of generation. The remaining 40.5 MW of generation will be owned by Otter Tail.
In concert with the development of the wind farm, Minnkota and Otter Tail plan to upgrade 35 miles of 41.6 kv transmission line to 115 kv in order to enable the wind power to reach load centers. The new wind farm and related transmission upgrade are scheduled to be completed by early 2008.
