LCG, October 5, 2026--The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Energy Dominance Financing (EDF) today announced a conditional loan commitment of up to $4.2 billion to finance nuclear uprates and modernization across Vistra’s nuclear fleet in Pennsylvania and Ohio. The projects are expected to preserve nearly 4 GW of carbon-free, baseload power and add 433 MW of new nuclear capacity that will support the growing electricity demand across the PJM region.

LCG, October 2, 2026--We Energies, a subsidiary of Milwaukee-based WEC Energy Group, and Oracle today announced an agreement that would allow Oracle to "subscribe" to between 10 percent and 20 percent of the Point Beach Nuclear Plant’s electricity generation. Oracle will provide the carbon-free energy to Project Lighthouse, the data center campus in Port Washington that Oracle is co-developing with artificial intelligence firm OpenAI.

Construction Begins on Silver Star Wind Project in Texas
LCG, September 13, 2007--Construction commenced yesterday on the Silver Star Project in west central Texas. The 60-MW wind farm will include twenty-four, 2.5 MW Liberty Wind Turbines are manufactured by Clipper Windpower in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Clipper will own 15% of the project, and BP Alternative Energy will own 85%. The project is scheduled to begin commercial operations in early 2008.
The Silver Star Project is being built in Eastland and Erath Counties and will dispersed over a 54,000 acre site. According to the developers, the footprint of the project facilities will use less than one the percent of the total area, which will continue to be used for ranching.
