ACCIONA Windpower Introduces 3 MW Wind Turbine

LCG, June 5, 2008--ACCIONA Windpower this week introduced its 3-MW wind turbine at the American Wind Energy Association's (AWEA) Windpower 2008 Conference and Exhibition in Houston, Texas. ACCIONA states that deliveries of the AW-3000 wind turbine are expected in the second half of 2010.

ACCIONA developed the AW-3000 based on extensive experience with the existing AW-1500. The new, 3.0-MW wind turbine is designed to operate in three wind classes: IEC Ia, IEC IIa and IEC IIIa. The AW-3000 is designed to operate at variable speed with an independent pitch system for each blade.

The dimensions of the AW-3000 are impressive. Three rotor diameter options are available: 100, 109 and 116 meters. The turbine is supplied with a concrete tower that provides a hub height of either 100 or 120 meters - both of which are taller than the Statue of Liberty - including her base.

ACCIONA Windpower manufactures wind turbines at four factories, with two located in Spain and one each in the United States, and China. The plant located in West Branch, Iowa will produce both the AW-3000 and the AW-1500 wind turbines.
