Transco to Expand Pipeline for New LNG Terminal in Mississippi
LCG, October 29, 2008--Transco, an interstate pipeline company owned by Williams, announced plans for a $53 million, 15-mile expansion to connect its system to the Gulf LNG Clean Energy Terminal under construction in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Construction is planned to commence in spring 2011 and be completed, together with the LNG terminal, in the fall of 2011.
Earlier this month, the ceremonial groundbreaking occurred for the Gulf LNG Clean Energy project, which will enable 150 tankers per year to deliver natural gas from Africa. The LNG project includes approximately 5 miles of 36-inch diameter pipeline that will enable deliveries from the terminal to interstate pipelines, including Transco, Gulfstream, Destin, and Florida Gas Transmission. The delivery capacity from the terminal to the interstate pipeline system will be approximately 1.3 Bcf/day.
The new Transco pipeline facilities will add approximately 810 MMcf/day of capacity to receive imported natural gas delivered via tanker to the LNG terminal. The pipeline expansion plans include the installation of approximately 15 miles of 26-inch diameter pipeline, along with a new meter station near Pascagoula and changes to an existing Transco compressor station in Mobile County.
Williams plans to file an application for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN) with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) next summer.
