PSEG Solar Source Acquires Solar Projects
LCG, September 24, 2009--PSEG Solar Source, a subsidiary of PSEG Global, yesterday acquired two solar photovoltaic (PV) projects from juwi solar Inc., plus a third solar project totaling nearly 30 MW of electric generating capacity. The three projects are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2010.
The three solar PV projects will use in total 380,000, ground-mounted panels that employ thin film technology provided by First Solar. juwi solar Inc. will provide the engineering, procurement, construction, and initial operation and maintenance services for the projects, which will be owned by PSEG Solar Source.
The first project scheduled to generate power is the Mars Solar Garden facility, a 2.2-MW project located on 18 acres adjacent to Mars Snackfood's U.S. headquarters in New Jersey. Mars Snackfood has contracted for the power, and the project is scheduled to be completed this year.
In Jacksonville, Florida, JEA (the local, municipal utility) will purchase the power and renewable energy credits from a 15-MW solar project located on 100 acres. Commercial opererations are scheduled to commence next summer.
AEP Ohio has contracted for the electricity and renewable energy credits out of the third, 12-MW project located on 80 acres in Wyandot, Ohio.
The three projects in total represent approximately a $100 million investment by PSEG Solar Source.
