Google and AES Sign Agreements for Co-Located Generation and Data Center in Texas

LCG, February 24, 2026--The AES Corporation (AES) and Google today announced agreements for clean power generation that will be co-located with a new Google data center in Wilbarger County, Texas. The agreements include a 20-year Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) for co-located power generation. These coordinated energy projects and powered land will enable Google to rapidly expand its operations to meet demand for core services, while AES will expand its power generation portfolio.

Amazon Announces Plans to Invest $12 Billion in Data Center Campuses in Louisiana

LCG, February 23, 2026--Amazon today announced plans to invest $12 billion to develop and construct state-of-the-art data center campuses in northwest Louisiana that will support cloud computing technologies. Amazon is partnering with STACK Infrastructure, the developer and owner of the campuses, to lead the construction and development of the data center facilities. Amazon has already invested in solar energy projects in Louisiana, bringing up to 200 MW of new carbon-free energy onto the grid.

Iberdrola Commissions Three Wind Farms Across the U.S.

LCG, January 24, 2013--Iberdrola announced early this week that its installed capacity has increased by 265 MW following the commissioning of three wind farms located in California, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts.

The largest of the three wind farms is the 189-MW Manzana Wind Farm, located in the Tehachapi area near the town of Rosamond, California. The project includes 126 of GE's 1.5-MW wind turbines. San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) has a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for 100 MW of the plant output, and the City of Santa Clara?s Silicon Valley Power (SVP) has a 20-year PPA for 50 MW.

In New Hampshire, the 48-MW Groton Wind Farm is sited along two ridge features in the town of Groton and consists of 24 Gamesa G87, 2.0-MW wind turbines.

The third project is the 28.5-MW Hoosac Wind Power Project, located in Massachusetts. The project includes 19, 1.5-MW turbines from GE, and all of the energy is under a PPA with NSTAR Electric, a subsidiary of Northeast Utilities.
