LCG, September 26, 2013--Duke Energy Florida earlier this week announced that it will issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) to supply approximately 1,640 MW of electric generating capacity beginning in 2018.
New proposals to provide generating capacity will compete with Duke Energy?s self-build option to install a natural gas-fired, combined-cycle facility in Citrus County Florida.

The company will issue the RFP on October 8, 2013. A pre-release meeting is scheduled for October 2, 2013, and a meeting for interested bidders will occur on October 18, 2013. Following the completion of evaluating the proposals, a short list of proposals will be announced next March. Finalists are scheduled to be named in May 2014, and the award announcement is expected by August 2014.
