Duke Energy Renewables Acquires Seville Solar Projects in California
LCG, July 29, 2015-Duke Energy Renewables yesterday announced it has acquired the 20-MW Seville I and 30-MW Seville II Solar Power Projects in California from Kruger Energy. The two projects are expected to be in service by year end, which will increase Duke Energy Renewables' total solar power capacity in California to over 100 MW.
San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) will purchase the energy generated from Seville I and associated renewable energy credits (RECs) through a 20-year agreement. Imperial Irrigation District (IID) will purchase the power and related RECs from Seville II under a 25-year agreement.
The projects, Seville I and Seville II, are located on a 1,280-acre site in the Imperial County about 10 miles west of the Salton Sea. Construction is underway and will continue to be overseen by Kruger Energy.
The president, Commercial Portfolio, of Duke Energy stated, "The Seville projects are a sizeable addition to our California solar portfolio; they will almost double our solar capacity in the state. We're pleased to be adding quality projects that will bring economic development to Imperial County and contribute to California's leadership in renewable energy growth."
